RESULTS OF THE XIXth INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC CONFERENCE "STOCHIK READINGS"
On November 19, 2021, the XIXth International Scientific Conference "Stochik Readings" on PANDEMIC: HISTORICAL EXPERIENCE, CURRENT PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS FOR COMBATING THE SPREAD OF DANGEROUS INFECTIONS was held at the National Research Institute of Public Health named after N.A.Semashko.
The event was held online and broadcast on the YouTube platform, where the conference was watched by more than 1,700 people at a time. Over the next 6 days, more than 1000 people looked through the materials of the conference, which are freely available on the website of "Stochik Readings". The conference received numerous reviews from different countries of the world, 244 people highly appreciated the materials of the conference, noting the reports they liked.
The event was held with the participation of the representatives of the World Health Organization, Rospotrebnadzor, Roszdravnadzor, specialists in the history of medicine and healthcare organization, leading epidemiologists, virologists and experts in other fields of medicine from Russia, Italy, Great Britain, Israel, Germany, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine. The conference served as an international platform for generating new ideas, the existing world experience in combating pandemics was analyzed, a vector of a new direction in modern medical science and medical education was set, the issues of necessary transformations in health protection systems were raised due to the urgency of the pandemics threat in the future.
The conference participants were sent greetings from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the State Duma Committee on Health Protection, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation M.A. Murashko, Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation M.V. Kizeev.
The conference was solemnly opened by the director of the National Research Institute of Public Health named after N.A. Semashko, DSc in Medicine Zudin Alexander Borisovich. In his opening speech, he emphasized the crucial role of the public health sciences and the history of medicine in analyzing, understanding the current situation and predicting the future development of the pandemic.
"Public health, as a science about the strategy and tactics of strengthening, preserving and restoring the health of the population as a whole and of each person separately, should serve as the basis on which numerous but disparate smalts of achievements of individual medical sciences can be collected into a mosaic of a pandemic," he said in particular.
In his speech, Alexander Borisovich emphasized the special role of the history of medicine in the problem under discussion: "Through the prism of time, through awareness and analysis, and adaptation to the current situation, we strive to build a forecast and model for the development of epidemics in the future."
Further, the director of the National Research Institute of Public Health named after N.A. Semashko gave the floor to Melita Vuinovich, the Special Representative of the World Health Organization in the Russian Federation.
Professor Vujnovich informed of the previous work of the organisation to prevent quarantine infection epidemics, recalling the leading role of the USSR in the eradication of smallpox around the world. She also spoke about the modern decisions of the World Health Organization in connection with the new pandemic of the coronavirus infection.
Then Mikhail Vladimirovich Kizeev, the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the chief physician of FSBHI "Medical Center" Reshma "of the Federal Medical and Biological Agency, was called upon to speech.
He emphasized the importance of holding such a high-level conference in order to develop solutions to combat "such a complex infection that has been dominating our minds for 2 years and significantly affects public health." He mentioned the huge economic losses in connection with the pandemic and assured the public that the State Duma would take the necessary decisions in order to provide "financial support to those areas that have been most affected by this covid infection." Mikhail Vladimirovich expressed confidence in the high efficiency and constructiveness of the conference.
Plutnitsky Andrey Nikolaevich, the director of the Department of Project Activities of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, DSc in Medicine, congratulated the conference participants on his own behalf and on behalf of Mikhail Albertovich Murashko, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation. In his welcoming speech, the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation emphasized the crucial role of the conference in the fight against the new coronavirus infection, which has become "one of the strongest challenges to health systems around the world, including our country."
Plutnitsky A.N. highlighted the advantages of the Russian healthcare system, which turned out to be the most prepared to face such a terrible enemy, as well as the decisiveness and immediacy of the measures taken by the Ministry of Health in the fight against the pandemic. And he called for active vaccination with 6 vaccines registered in the Russian Federation, focusing on the need to clarify the importance of vaccination in order to prevent and combat the coronavirus infection.
The conference participants were greeted by Professor Gintsburg Alexander Leonidovich, the director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N.F. Gamalei ”of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, DSc in Biology. He reminded those present about the founder of the conference - Academician Andrei Mikhailovich Stochik and about his significant contribution to medical science and higher medical education, as well as to the work of the Academy of Medical Sciences. Alexander Leonidovich described the conference as a high-ranking one, comparing it in terms of status and world recognition in the medical world with the Lancet magazine. Congratulating the participants and emphasizing the highest level of the list of the conference speakers, he expressed confidence in the successful work of the XІXth International Conference "Stochik Readings".

Professor Zuev Victor Abramovich, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Member of the Presidium and Academician-Secretary of the Department of Virology and Prion Diseases, Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, DSc in Medicine, in his notewothy report "Vaccination is the fundamental basis for local and global smallpox eradication" showed the results of the fight against smallpox, which arose in the 50s of the last century in Moscow.
Professor Drynov Georgy Igorevich, Professor of the Faculty of Specialized and Experimental Medicine and Diagnostics at the University of Bologna, Head of the Bachelor's Degree in Allergology and Immunology at the University of Bologna, Certified Expert and Reviewer of the journals “The Lancet”, “Jama”, “BMJ”, “The Cell”, Dsc in Medicine, continued the theme of the importance of measures to prevent and combat epidemics in his report "Coronavirus: 5 expectations, reality, prospects"

In the reports the authors explored the objective causes of epidemics using the factual material, revealed and analyzed the contradictions and many aspects which reflect the influence of the events that occurred in different historical periods on the occurrence of epidemics.
The section "Coronavirus Pandemic" was devoted to the origin, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of the new coronavirus infection, monitoring the evolution of the pathogen COVID-19 and biological hazard. It was disclosed in the reports of the following speakers:

The original work on the study of COVID-19 revealed the depth of the problem from all sides, clarifying the objective picture in this matter.

3 works are devoted to epidemiology and cholera control, 2 - anti-plague measures , 2 - typhus , 1 - smallpox , 2 - childhood infections , 21 - various aspects of the history of pandemic and epidemics and the state of their fight today , 10- biographies of scientists dealing with epidemiology , 1 - terminology.
The journal “Bulletin of the National Research Institute of Public Health named after N.А. Semashko " published 11 articles in No. 3 and No. 4 each.
The remaining 20 articles are planned to be printed in No. 1, 2022.
Summing up the results of the XІX International Scientific Conference "Stochik Readings", we can state its high rating. The conference served as an international platform for generating new ideas, the existing world experience in combating pandemics was analyzed, a vector of a new direction in modern medical science and medical education was set, the issues of necessary transformations in health protection systems were raised due to the urgency of the pandemics threat in the future.
